Tuesday, October 6th at 12:00 PM to All Good Afternoon, I am calling with some good news. Governor Wolf’s office has released new guidelines this morning for attendance at sporting events. The guidelines will take effect starting this Friday, October 9th. They are a rubric that is based on occupancy limits, potential occupants, and percentages. We have done the math and will now communicate what this means for our home competitions starting this Friday, October 9th: Football games will go from 250 to 361 Occupancy Volleyball and MS Girls Basketball will go from 25 to 128 Occupancy Mr. DeSimone and Mrs. Tomcho will be working hard over the next 48 hours to communicate with all our families on how those tickets will be distributed. In the meantime we are bound to the 25 and 250 limitations for tonight’s, Wednesday’s, and Thursday’s competition. But we are excited to get our families back in the gym starting Friday and more of you in our football stadium in the future. A gentle reminder that we have to enforce social distancing and masking in any event we host. As stated last week, these are not school board decisions on the limitations, in fact your board and administration is doing everything they can to give you the opportunity to see your kids play in person. Thank you for all your cooperation and patience through this very difficult and at times frustrating times. -- Matthew W. Bennett Superintendent Union City Area School District
