Wednesday February 24th at 4:00 PM to All Good Afternoon, I am reaching out this afternoon with some positive news as well as some reminders to keep our district on track. Local and County Health data has been improving each day. Crawford County has moved out of the substantial level of transmission for the first time in months, Union City zip code health data has also moved to the moderate level, and Erie County is on the verge of exiting the substantial transmission status. This certainly is welcome news, but we still have work to do to ensure our students are able to stay at school in a safe manner. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone for their flexibility and patience throughout this past year. I am also asking for you to please continue with your cooperation in the following ways to help us stay open, and provide a safe and healthy atmosphere for all: If an individual has symptoms of Covid-19, they can not come enter our buildings or be on campus. If an individual is home with symptoms, all members of that household that attend school or work at UCASD must remain home until cleared to return to the building. If the person with symptoms tests negative, all other family members may return to the building. The person with symptoms must complete the 10-day isolation or receive another negative test result taken on a different day. If the person with symptoms sees the doctor and receives a non-Covid diagnosis, the family members may return to the building and the person with symptoms may return when released by the doctor. If someone in the household has been tested for covid-19, all individuals within that household must stay home until results are received and return upon a negative result. If a student, staff member or household member has been diagnosed with covid-19, all household contacts must complete a 20-24 day isolation. Person with a positive covid-19 result must isolate for at least 10 days. As always any questions can be directed to the building school nurse or principal. This information will be posted on our website for review at everyone’s convenience. Thank you again and have a great day! -- Matthew W. Bennett Superintendent Union City Area School District
