Friday, September 25th at 4:00 PM to All Good Afternoon! I am pleased to announce that we have completed our 5th week of school this year. A feet that many doubted would be possible. It was not too long ago we were all wondering if and when we would be able to come back to school in person. There are some schools that are not as fortunate as us to be back in person and have choices on how our students are educated. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers, staff, administration, school board members, and community members that have made this a reality. We have also had the good fortune to have our student athletes return to competition this fall. Albeit under different circumstances, they are competing and getting an opportunity we at one time thought would not be possible. With recent court rulings we have even been able to let some parents and loved ones into the competition areas to see their students participate in person. A few reminders for everyone: We are not sure how long this opportunity will be afforded to us. The landscape continues to change in the courts and with the health department. We have no control over that, so please enjoy each game, meet, match, or event we get to experience. In order to continue to allow spectators at events, we need the cooperation of everyone. Please understand this is not a Union City Area School District’s decision or for that matter any school districts decision. It is simply the guidelines we are all under to allow fans in competition venues. Please out of respect for everything that is being done to allow for these events to happen - follow the rules for masking and social distancing, and I dare say let's show our appreciation to the individuals that are working so hard for our students and community. Thank you for your time and attention to these matters and good luck to the Bears this weekend! -- Matthew W. Bennett Superintendent Union City Area School District
